Our own Allen James is from North Carolina and has friends and family that are in one of the hardest hit areas of Hurricane Helene. Allen will be leading a relief effort to bring supplies to victims in the Asheville/Hendersonville North Carolina area.
Below are the details as to how you can participate and help with this effort:
Timing
The tentative plan is to depart the morning of Monday October 21st. Assuming we can put together a multiple vehicle caravan, then some folks could depart and return within 7 days if they drop off their load and immediately return home. Allen plans on staying an additional 3-4 days before returning to Montana, which would extend the trip to 10 days.
Transportation Needs
· Heavy duty PU trucks capable of towing a 12 – 16 foot enclosed trailer
· Fully enclosed trailers to haul our donations and supplies
o We would like to get these on the church property so they can be used to store the donated goods we receive by this Sunday October 13th and then have
them remain until we depart on October 21st
· Please let me know if you have a vehicle and/or trailer and if you’re interested in participating in the trip
· Vehicle fuel and hotel accommodations will be covered through donations
Cash Donations:
We estimate the total costs for fuel, food and lodging to/from could be as much as $15,000. A $2000 donation has been received. If you can contribute financial support, we have created a North Carolina Relief designation on our ‘Give” link on our website. Any excess we receive over the above costs, will be used to purchase key items from the above list that are not donated.
Pray
Please pray for God’s provision, protection, healing and hope for those affected, for an outpouring of support so that Crosspoint can put together a convoy to meet the needs of these people. Pray for safe travels, good weather, and health and for the Lord’s hand of protection over the southeast from further storms/hurricanes.
