Missions Ministry

Creating a Culture of Missions

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus said

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

After three years of personally investing in the disciples, Jesus transfers the responsibility for proclaiming the gospel to the world onto His followers; that’s us! The completed work of Christ thru His sacrifice and resurrection was the final stamp of authority establishing His dominion over heaven and earth for all eternity. As the embodiment of God’s authority in this world, Jesus’ strategy for implementing His dominion was and is to empower us.

Acts 1:8 says, “…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

Many Christians like to talk about the “power of God” that is working in their life, but the clearest evidence for the presence and power of God in our lives is our efforts to fulfill the Great Commission. Jesus linked the power of the Holy Spirit to the work of being His witnesses. Without the “witness” what is the purpose of the “power”? From His perspective they are inextricably linked.

At Crosspoint Church, we actively embrace our part in the responsibility to go to our Jerusalem, our Judea, our Samaria, and ultimately to the ends of the earth to be His witnesses. This vision is impossible without the Holy Spirit working in and through our church body. We cannot pray for a local harvest of souls without participating in the global harvest. We cannot pray for servants to be raised-up in our local congregation if we are not willing to pray for laborers to be sent into the harvest around the world (Matthew 9:37-28).

For Crosspoint Church to be a healthy Kingdom focused congregation we must embrace the call to missions. We must train our members for short-term mission trips. We must partner with long term mission partners around the world. We must gather resources to facilitate and finance mission endeavors. Most importantly, we must pray! We are committed to doing our part to fulfill the Great Commission.

God is be glorified at Crosspoint Church, and missions work must be a fundamental and defining part of our culture. We pray that God will call you to join us in this mission.
